NICO THERON | INDUSTRY EXPERT

Unicus Tax Fellowship Programme

The Unicus Tax Fellowship Programme is an initiative launched by our Founder, Nico Theron, to meet the high demand of people (young and old and across various industries) requesting mentorship guidance from him.

Here is what Nico has to say about the programme:

I am always very humbled by requests from people asking me if I would be willing to be their mentor. I really feel honoured by these requests and, in that moment, I am thankful to those that helped me and who were easily accessible to me when I was forging my career. Indeed, along the way, I have had the benefit of guidance from what one may call ‘mentors’ and given the high demand for me to be one for others, I feel it incumbent upon me to return the favour and plough back into the community that helped shape me.

How does it work

The programme takes the form of fixed bi-monthly 1 hour discussion with Nico wherein you can discuss your career development and the tax industry in general and perhaps just debate a technical tax issue. These discussion take the form of informal discussions and, for obvious security and logistical reasons, will be virtual with exceptions for physical meetings in Nico’s sole discretion.  These meetings are free. They are not, however, intended for seeking free advice. However, if you are a Unicus Tax Fellow for a period of at least one year, you or the firm you work for may qualify for discounted rates for consultations with Nico for advice.  In addition, if you are a Unicus Tax Fellow, you will be invited to take part (virtually) in the Unicus Tax Internal technical update discussion which is a meeting wherein Nico and his team members at Unicus Tax go through recent tax law developments with the aim of learning from each other and staying up to date.
